New baby will be arriving in July!!

A day off...

Nothing but rest and relaxation today...

Curt and I both have today off so we aren't doing a whole lot of anything...

I got to take a nap this morning, Curt went and got Hunter from school so I could sleep... How wonderful!!!

Tonight we are going to go out to eat with Curt's parents, Dale and Judy and then spending the night just hanging out!

Just one of those days...

Somedays are better than others.

Somedays I love getting out of the house to go to work, not so much lately.

These days I would give anything to stay at home all day and all night.

I feel like I am missing so much with the boys.

I get to spend all day with them and I'm am grateful for every second, but I miss staying at home with them.

Maybe someday it will be feasible. Right now it isn't really. I wish it was.

I miss my guys. All three of them.

Ugh.

The boys are at my parents house...

Curt is in bed...

And me?

I am sick.

It is too early to be up on a Saturday morning. I didn't sleep well last night, its hard to sleep when your stomach hurts and can't sleep comfortably, nausea is taking over my life right now & my bed was empty because Curt was at work.

Now he is home and I haven't been in bed. Maybe I'll go try to pass out for a few hours and pray that whatever it is that I have, I don't share with him.

Goodnight world.

Fall, rain and laundry oh my!

Has anyone just stopped, looked around and really noticed the fall colors? Just amazing... I feel like I'm seeing them through new eyes this year. Everything seems brighter, bolder, perfect.

It is one of those cold rain fall days... It isn't raining hard, but hard enough to be a pain and cold enough for winter coats!

Hunter is at school and Curt is hunting so Ian and I are hanging out this morning, trying to get laundry done before they go to Grandma and Papa's house tonight. Well, I'm trying to get laundry going and Ian is so enthralled with Diego right now I don't think a tornado, or even chocolate chip pancakes, could peel his eyeballs off the t.v. He doesn't get to watch cartoons much so he is enjoying this!!

This has been a nice 4 day weekend for me, I wish I could make it last longer!

And so my weekend begins...

Our schedules aren't like everyone else's. My weekend starts when everyone's week begins, or in the middle of it. Today is the start of a 4 day weekend for me but it is Monday, so we had to get up early and take Hunter to school, 20 miles away. We are home for not even 10 minutes when Curt walks up the stairs. His dad called him. Hunter's school is on lockdown. Not something a mom wants to hear... why on earth would they lock down my baby's school? I did what every self-respecting, concerned mother would do. I called the elementary. Mom's apparently get transferred... straight to the principal. (Can I just say it is REALLY weird talking to the principal as a MOM and not as the student who is trying to talk her way out of detention, suspension or whatever the punishment is that time around!) The principal informed me that the elementary is no longer on lockdown, the settlement school had a threat of a school shooting, so they locked everyone down as a precaution. Apparently all is better now.

Thank goodness. I'm not ready for him to be in school. 5 more years. Then I will let him start. Maybe.

Little Surprises

It is the little things he does that takes my breath away... Stops me in my tracks... Get a look on my face like "Are you serious!?"... The little things that lets me know he loves me and constantly reminds me why I fell in love...

Friday we decided to go get some warmer clothes so we stopped at the mall to see what we could find. I found some shirts for the boys (on sale, bonus!) and we were just walking the mall while I was talking to Tiffany on the phone. A few minutes later, Curt starts walking into a store, I tell Tiff "Um, I gotta call you back... Curt just walked into a jewelry store." When I caught up to him in the store, he asked what color I liked, I told him I liked a light pink and pointed at something to show him what I meant. He double checked, "You like that one?" Yes I say to him... He then asked the jeweler if he could see it closer. "You like it then?" "Yes honey, I do" and I kind of sigh and walk away... I don't like to be teased. I was turned around and starting to herd the kids out when I hear him say to the lady, "Okay, we will take it". My head whipped around so fast! I think it caught the jeweler by surprise too because she was starting to put it away!

A half hour later I had a gorgeous necklace on thanks to my honey!!

~SO IN LOVE!!~

What a nice day... And a Hunter-ism

This morning, Curt got home from the station and due to the lack of children, he got to hop into bed for awhile! It was nice to not have to be up right away to go get them or have them come wake us up! (Well, wake Curt up. They don't come to my side of the bed anymore for some reason, unless he is gone.)

After he got to sleep for awhile, he went out and peeled the old stickers off the boat so he can get it painted. Hopefully maybe get it painted tonight... Or tomorrow! It will be nice to see how it turns out when everything is done on it and the blind is finished! It is going to be a CUSHY hunting boat! Damn thing will even have a stove! ;)

Today we spent the afternoon at Dale & Judy's, and had lunch with Dale, Judy, Chris (Curt's brother) and Chris' girlfriend Sam. We don't get to see Chris and Sam very often so it was nice to spend some time with them and watch the boys get to know them better!

I just talked to Curt, he is out hunting right now while the kids are at Grandma Judy & Grandpa Dale's house. He shot some ducks & got his limit, now they are waiting for the geese to come in!

Yesterday, Hunter was walking down the stairs to the toy room, and was talking to himself... All I hear is "One small step for ham... One big step for kids" I'm going to go ahead and guess it was supposed to be man... but hey, if he wants to go ahead and start taking steps on behalf of ham & ham rights... I guess go right ahead!

Tomorrow is the start of a 4 day weekend for me & today was the start of Curt's 5 day weekend... 4 days of quality time! I can't wait!!

Busy Week Ahead

The weekend isn't over, and I'm already thinking about the massive amount of stuff we have to do this week... I'm up for it!

I have Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday off this week so I can go to training on Tuesday. That means the boys get to spend some time with Grandma Judy and Grandpa Dale Monday and Tuesday.

Thursday night, Curt and I are going to Ames for a concert... Daughtry, Theory of a Deadman and Cavo... So the boys get to spend a couple nights at Grandma Vicky & Papa Ken's house.

Friday, Curt and I both have to work... Since boys will still be at Mom & Dad's house, HOPEFULLY I can get a bunch of cleaning done. Who knows, maybe even get ome stuff seperated for spring garage sale & a dump trip! (Wishful thinking on my part...)

Saturday grab the kids, I wanted to go to the craft show at the UNI dome, but I don't know if we will have enough time, I hope we do!

Sunday...? RELAXING...

Now it is off to run to the store quick, grab some lunch and then up to the fire department to see Curt!

Have a great day!

Quiet day

It has been a quiet day, we didn't do a whole lot of anything, Curt is working today so the boys and I have been just hanging out and relaxing.

Hunter had his school pictures today and he said that he smiled "big and good" so I can't wait to see them! I still can't believe he is old enough for school!

Having a baking craving lately, so tonight after the kids are tucked in, chocolate cupcakes and a homemade apple pie are getting made... Mmm I can't wait.

Tomorrow after school I think we are taking a trip to Cedar Rapids or Des Moines to either look at stuff or get stuff to finish the new boat, which will be nice. I miss the little roadtrips :)

More later...

An inside day...

Good Morning!

We had our first illness of the year, Hunter decided to come down with the flu bug. He is feeling better today thank goodness. The poor little guy looked so pathetic last night and of course Ian didn't know what to think! He was mad because he couldn't come into the bathroom too & was a little lost that Bobo couldn't play with him!!

Today will be a busy day inside if I can get motivated... It looks too cold outside to go do anything, so it will be a laundry and cleaning kind of day.

Curt is at work until tonight, then in for his regular 24 hour shift tomorrow so the boys are getting shipped up to Grandma and Papa's house for a few hours! They can't wait!!!

Off to tackle the laundry monster...

Changes

As you can tell from the title of the blog, we have gone under a "family reconstruction".

Chad and I are getting a divorce, in June, the boys and I moved out. We spent some time living in Grundy Center (Thanks again Mom, Dad & Grandma) and have since moved to Marshalltown.

A new relationship has started, I starting seeing a wonderful guy by the name of Curt. He and I have been friends for awhile, we used to work together a few years ago & have re-connected. He works as a full time fire fighter/EMT with the Marshalltown Fire Department, which allows him to be home quite often. The boys absolutely adore him and they all get along great!! I'll probably let him take over a post so he can tell you more about himself... :-)

It has been a whirlwind summer for all of us and we have gone through some much needed changes, but everything has turned out for the better and we are all doing great.

I hope you will follow along and enjoy life with us on our journey as a new family!!
